· ICC has laid
down some new rules to resume cricket
No Cricket has been played for more than 4 months due global pandemic Covid-19.Well,
Cricket has to resume at some point of time, Bundesliga Football tournament has
also been resumed during the period with special care and precautions, So, ICC
has brought up some new rules to resume cricket.
International Cricket Committee held a meeting which was led by former
Indian veteran spinner, Anil Kumble and the committee has decided that in order
to resume cricket there has to be some new rules implemented for the safety
concerns of the players.
The new rules are listed below:
1.
Ban on using SALIVA to shine the ball, instead
2.
SWEAT can be used to shine the ball
3.
No HAND-SHAKES before and after the match
4.
Umpires to wear HAND GLOVES
5.
LOCAL umpires can be used due travel restrictions
6.
Each team will be given an EXTRA DRS per inning of the
match
7.
No CELEBRATIONS after a wicket
8.
Umpires will not hold players stuff
The old-age trick to shine a cricket ball using saliva has been banned
hope so temporarily by the ICC, but has allowed the use of sweat to shine the
ball. According to the ICC’s medical committee the corona virus can’t be
transmitted through sweat but can transmit via saliva. Well, this means the
bowlers will face more difficulties in coming times. Already, Cricket is been
called ‘Batsman’s Game’ and adding this new rule to the tally will make that
statement even more strong.
Another eye-catching rule introduced was the using of local umpires for
International Cricket due travel restrictions in various countries, the quality
and lack of experience in standing for bigger games can affect the
decision-making of the local umpires, so ICC has decided to add up an extra DRS
per inning each side, which would bring a lot more balance.
Well, Cricket won’t be same during this tough period, and this would
continue for a while till the invention of corona vaccine.
