Cricket pop

- . TWO indian teams
to play on the same day
The whole cricketing world is on standstill due Covid-19 pandemic . It
is obvious that the cricketing boards all around the world will be facing huge
losses and some may go bankrupt as well.
Indian cricket board, BCCI [Board of Control For Cricket In India] is
planning a unique to compensate some losses as the whole loss cannot be
recovered. A BCCI official stated "None of us
know when sport, especially international cricket will resume. But if we have
to safeguard all our stakeholders - from sponsors to spectators - one of the
options is to select two different squads and play a Test series and a T20I
series simultaneously,"
This concept is new to make an international
team to play two formats on the same day by picking two different squads, it
has never happened in the past although Australia once in 2017 played a T20
match against Sri Lanka back in Australia and the very next day the Aussie team
was out to play a test match again India at Pune.
Well, to make this concept work there will be
lot of hurdles, right from picking the squad, the selectors has to ask each and
every player which format would they prefer and not only this, if the marquee
players are playing a certain format will there be enough television ratings
for the other format. Well, there are lot of speculations but the time will
tell weather this is possible to implement in real life or not…
